DAY 1: KILIMANJARO AIRPORT – ARUSHA

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, after clearing customs and immigration formalities you driver guide will be waiting for you outside the arrival lounge with the signboard with your name on it, thereafter transfer to Arusha town for overnight

Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) is Tanzania’s largest airport by size and passenger volume, and serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi. It’s located in the northern part of the country, between the Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions, at an elevation of 2,932 feet above sea level. The airport is a gateway for tourists visiting Mount Kilimanjaro and other national parks, and is also an important hub for domestic and regional flights

Arusha Region is a tourist destination in Africa and is the hub of the northern Tanzania safari circuit.

Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park via Chief Lobulus Boma for a cultural visit. Lunch at the lodge. This afternoon enjoy a game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is noted for its Elephant population and spectacular baobabs of every shape creating a beautiful setting.

CHIEF LOBULUS BOMA

Maasai Boma Visit to a genuine authentic Boma sitting with the Chief himself.  An authentic glimpse into the distinctive Maasai culture is a must whilst in Tanzania.  Preservation of their proud traditions has set the Maasai apart from other indigenous groups in Tanzania, and embodies a side of Africa with which few outsiders can contact.  We offer guests a memorable opportunity to interactively experience the Maasai way of life through an excursion to a traditional boma where guests will be able to participate in a variety of unique cultural activities, and encouraged to delve as deep into the experience as possible!

As the sun rises above the ancient baobab trees, venture out into Tarangire in search of Lion and cheetah whilst large herds of elephant roam the park en route to their favorite swamp. You may like to spend the full day game viewing in the park with a picnic lunch to be enjoyed at a dramatic look out or you may prefer to incorporate some leisure time at your lodge between morning and afternoon game drives

Tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire River that rises in the highlands of central Tanzania and winds its way through the game sanctuary. The river irresistibly lures the herds of plains migrants from the parched surrounding area to its shrunken – but permanent – brackish waters during the dry season.

The animals come by thousands from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron, dramatically swelling the resident population with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo and fringe-eared Oryx. As the rainless days continue the Tarangire’s pools are clotted with thirsty migrants, and elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed.

Dinner and overnight at Tarangire

Leave Tarangire behind you as your driver/guide takes you to Ngorongoro Crater via Mto wa Mbu for a cultural tour, local lunch will be provided. Thereafter proceed to Ngorongoro crater accommodation positioned on the crater Rim.  The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and the first sight of it is breathtaking.

MTO WA MBU TUKTUK CULTURAL TOUR

This is a truly authentic and unique way to get a glimpse of the way of life in Tanzania.  You will meet Sunday who is a hero to many and has a great story to tell.  You will be guided throughout enjoying a cultural experience in the village of Mto wa Mbu  (on the border of Lake Manyara National Park), where you will spend a few hours exploring the villages using their most favored method of transport in the area.   Local tuk tuks designed to give you a birds eye view and you meander around the narrow streets.  You will see the rice fields and learn how it plays such a vital part in the food of Tanzanians.  Meet the Makonde carvers, watch the colourful Tinga Tinga painters (try a hand yourself),  visit a local primary school which we support before finishing up for a scrumptious Tanzanian lunch in the shade of the Banana trees.

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater

Your game drive today will be like no other as you visit one of the most dramatic safari destinations in Africa, the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend to the crater floor in search of the big 5 with the back drop of the forest covered crater walls surrounding you, creating stunning back drops for all of your wildlife photographs. Travel through the Lerai Forest looking for leopard and onto the plains where the wildebeest and zebra graze whilst cheetah and lion lay and watch. Old elephants pass your vehicle whilst further afield rhino wander and hippos hide in the pools. A picnic lunch is provided so you can maximize your day in the crater.

The floor of the crater is only 100 sq miles but is home to around 30,000 animals with a high concentration of predators and some of the finest black-maned Lion in Africa.  Rhino can be seen with calves at heel.  Eland and waterbuck appear not to notice the human visitors, enabling photographers to shoot at ease.  On the lake in the middle of the Crater you may see thousands of flamingos fluttering and shimmering like a pink heat haze.  Zebra and wildebeest account for almost half the animals – gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and wart hog can also be seen.

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater

This morning proceed to the central Serengeti. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. This area of the Serengeti is crossed by the thrilling wildlife spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration, but also has high-density game-viewing at all times and is well-known for its large concentration of cats, so much so that until recently this area was set aside for scientific research into predators, especially cheetah. As such,

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti

Enjoy a full day exploring the Serengeti by Four-wheel drive vehicle with thrilling morning and afternoon game drives.  Whether this is your first time on Safari or a return trip the Serengeti will not disappoint.

Thereafter enjoy sundowner at a selected spot in the park

The Serengeti National Park is arguably the most famous National Park in the world.  The Serengeti perhaps defines the safari experience as surely as the wildlife that inhabits it. Established in 1951, and covering an area of almost 15,000 sq km –an area comparable to the state of Connecticut or Northern Ireland, the Serengeti hosts a fantastically diverse eco-system. The principal attraction of the Serengeti is the passing of the wildebeest migration, 1.5 million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and other plains game that follow close behind, stalked by the inevitable predators who make the most of the ‘feast’ close at hand.

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti

Leave central Serengeti today and proceed to the Northern Serengeti. Picnic lunch will be provided to maximize your day in Serengeti

A scenic region characterized by grassy rolling hills, open woodland and tree-lined watercourses, it is a habitat that attracts wildlife throughout the year. It is in close proximity to the Mara River on the Serengeti’s border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara, so is also within the main corridor of the world-famous wildebeest migration between July and October.
